Joanita Babirye is a Co-founder and Movement strategist at Girls For Climate Action. She is mobilizing, leading and organising a movement of young women and girls in their different diveristies to advocate for climate justice at the local, natioanl and international level Joanita through Girls for Climate Action is changing the structures of the local environmental commitees at the local level by advocating for the inclusion of women and girls as part of the decsion makers. Because of this, At 23 years old, Joanita was selected as the first young person to become the Busoga Kingdoms’ first state minister for Water, Environemnt and Natural Resources where she advocating for youth, girls and women’s need to have contnrol and management of natural resources. She is also a youth leader under the Feminist Action for climate Justice AC under GEF.  She works to see that young women and girls meaningfully engaged in climate policy and action planning at all levels.
