Dr. Iyengar has been working in the field of environmental education for more than decade with NGOs and governments and has published in peer reviewed journals. Dr Iyengar has extensive experience in designing and managing international education research projects in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. She has helped to design environmental education at the local level along with developing measurements and metrics framework to track outcomes. She recently won the prestigious Earth Frontiers grant at the Earth Institute, Columbia University. Her recent publication in PROSPECTS UNESCO investigates community-based environmental factors to foster environmental education. Dr Iyengar received the prestigious Early Career Award from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2020. She was the Chair of the Environmental and Sustainability Education Special Interest Group (2020-22) and is a current Board Member of many NGO’s including CivicStory, New Jersey, Alliance for New Jersey’s Environmental Educators and PAL Network, Africa.
