Andrea is a Caribbean public archaeologist presently working at the regional level on initiatives targeting natural and cultural heritage being impacted by climate-induced and other natural hazards, the safeguarding of living heritage in emergencies and the synergies which exist between the tangible and the intangible and in how islanders of the Caribbean respond to severe environmental change. She is particularly interested in the role of archaeology and traditional knowledge systems in climate change adaptation and heritage as a tool for studying climate injustices amongst indigenous communities. Andrea is also a UNESCO expert for heritage in emergencies and has supported various countries in undertaking post-disaster needs assessments and recovery planning for the culture sector in response to disasters.
