Description

On January 27, 2021, President Biden signed Executive Order 14008 Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad establishing the Justice40 Initiative. A whole of government approach, the initiative mandates at least 40% of the benefits of certain government must flow to communities marginalized by underinvestment and overburdened by pollution. Two years later Executive Order 14096 directed agencies to strengthen the commitment to deliver Environmental to all communities through scientific research, high quality data, and meaningful engagement with communities facing EJ concerns. Panel discussion will explore how recent efforts build on Executive Order 12898, changing landscapes over the last thirty years, and lessons learned that should be applied to the present.
